Sasja Houba (2002) is a multidisciplinary artist and designer who expresses herself through graphic design, artistic research, and ceramics. In her work, she explores the relationship between humans, culture, and nature while incorporating practical and recognizable elements to make these themes more accessible to the public. Through this approach, she aims to raise awareness of the small, often overlooked or underappreciated aspects of our immediate surroundings.

Through graphic design, she translates her findings into printed matter and publications, driven by a passion for riso and silkscreen print. Ceramics offer her a more dynamic and tangible way to explore these themes, serving as a tool to step out of her head and work intuitively.

Services: Publication design, posters, identity design, signage, reserach projects, ceramics,

The Fountain of Life
  • Glazed stoneware
    120 x 55 cm, 2025

This fountain is the first of five elements in my graduation project, How to practice paradise. Through this project I explore the idea that paradise isn’t a distant, unreachable ideal but something waiting to be rediscovered within our own backyards.

Fence (1)

  • Glazed stoneware
    45 x 45 cm, 2024

This sculpture emerged from my visual research into iron fences (see: Fancy Fences), transforming these observations into a tangible form. By blending various patterns and shapes discovered during this exploration.

The Garden’s Guard (1)
  • Biscuit stoneware
    65 x 32 cm, 2024

This sculpture is the fourth of five elements in my graduation project, How to practice paradise. Through this project I explore the idea that paradise isn’t a distant, unreachable ideal but something waiting to be rediscovered within our own backyards.

Nature’s Symphony
  • Stained wood
        120 x 95 cm, 2024

Inspired by Leo Lionni’s Parallel Botany and Timothy Morton’s Dark Ecology, this wooden sculpture invites pause and reflection. Rather than mimicking a plant, it amplifies its presence - an altar-like form that blurs the line between the familiar and the unknown. It encourages a rethinking of our relationship with nature and, ultimately, ourselves.

Fence (2)

  • Glazed Porcelain
    80 x 45 cm, 2025

This sculpture emerged from my visual research into iron fences (see: Fancy Fences), transforming these observations into a tangible form. By blending various patterns and shapes discovered during this exploration.

The Nest
  • Stoneware and embroidered cotton
    45 x 45 cm, 2022

The process of making this piece became a form of meditation to me, helping me cope with anxiety and stress. The bird symbolizes the need to listen to my body rather than just my mind — its uneasy stomach reflects inner turmoil, while its outer skin and crown of thorns represent growth and protection.
